#Trust30 Day 15 – Wholly Strange and New by Bridget Pilloud

Wholly Strange and New by Bridget Pilloud

When good is near you, when you have life in yourself, it is not by any known or accustomed way; you shall not discern the foot-prints of any other; you shall not see the face of man; you shall not hear any name;—— the way, the thought, the good, shall be wholly strange and new. – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Can you remember a moment in your life when you had life in yourself and it was wholly strange and new? Can you remember the moment when you stopped walking a path of someone else, and started cutting your own?

Write about that moment. And if you haven’t experienced it yet, let the miracle play out in your mind’s eye and write about that moment in your future.

(Author: Bridget Pilloud)

Today’s Sentence:
Take a deep breath, hope, jump in and you might just be surprised!

My Moment:

The moment that would best fit into this theme of wholly strange and new would be when I moved to Michigan. Not that it will be hard for any of you to picture, but perhaps a bit humorous.

I was 21 years old, it was October of 1998. I actually pulled up in the driveway of my destination on October 31. It was me, a 10′ box truck with the majority of my worldly possessions in the back. A nearly 2000 mile drive over a period of roughly 36 hours, fueled by Dorito’s and Mt. Dew, with what radio stations would come in for company. Not even a cell phone. Driving out from Utah to pursue the dream of what I wanted my life to be.

That dream ultimately died a terrifically horrible fiery death, but I had done all I could. And, while I may choose some parts to redo differently, that initial drive out – the passion and optimism and good feeling – is something I will always treasure – regardless of the eventual outcome.
